Tony Woodhams, fisheries project manager for Newlyn, confirmed that funding for the construction of Newlyn's new £7 million fish market could stall construction until March 2009.

The 18-month project incorporates a new two-storey market hall with a raised roof, auction theatre and meeting room, as well as a heritage centre and industrial units.

Office and training space for the lifeboat, HM Coastguard, Harbour Master and fishing industry will also be built.
